Who doesn’t love evening or morning quiet time wrapped in a beautiful but comfortable robe.

I started making my Kimono Style Dressing Gowns for bridal parties almost 8 years ago.

I still make them in the same lovely tried and true fabrics, linen cotton, rayon challis, and double gauze. The only thing that changed is that each dressing gown is now made exactly to your size. I just don’t have the room in my studio to keep a range of stock that I need to offer all sizes. As a Zero Waste studio, focused on sustainably made goods, I think making each dressing gown as it’s ordered keep my sustainable sewing goals on track.

How does it work?

Size: When you purchase your dressing gown, we determine the size and length based on the measurements you provide.

Customizations: Sleeve length is the most common adjustment that I make in my dressing gowns. No one wants their sleeves dipping into their breakfast plates when they’re trying to relax!

Details: Each dressing gown is made using enclosed French Seams, which take a bit longer to make, but are worthwhile in making your dressing gown last for years.

Pockets: Depending on the fabric selected, I can add one or two pockets to your dressing gown. I don’t add pockets automatically because, while I love pockets on everything, some dressing gown fabrics don’t hold pockets well and heavier items shouldn’t be carried in them.

Fabrics: All of the fabrics that I use in my studio are natural fibres, cotton, linen rayon. They are either certified organic textiles or eco friendly textiles.

Care: Over the years I’ve learned which fabrics work best for my dressing gowns. I personally use and love each fabric type that I select for my studio use and know that proper care is important in keeping your dressing gown looking and feeling its best the longest. All of my fabrics can be washed in cold water in a front load washing machine. It’s best to wash your fabrics in scent free detergent to keep the colours brighter longer. Hang To Dry is recommended for all my fabrics as they will shrink or wrinkle excessively when dried in the dryer and not hung immediately  Expect up to 4% shrinkage if your dressing gown accidentally makes its way into the dryer, that’s one whole size! I always recommend spot cleaning when necessary and hanging on the line outside to air out when needed. Over washing clothing is hard on the fibres and ages clothing.

All Stoney Lake Textiles products and slow made by me in my little super clean, smoke free, pet free and scent free studio, yes I have a few allergies myself. So I like to keep my studio and my products comfy for everyone.
